C25 Steel

 

C25 carbon steel is a common standard, also known as C25E. This type of steel is mainly composed of carbon, manganese, silicon, and phosphorus elements. The specific chemical composition is as follows:

- Carbon (C): 0.22% - 0.29%

- Manganese (Mn): 0.30% - 0.60%

- Silicon (Si): up to 0.40%

- Phosphorus (P): up to 0.040%

 

The tensile strength of C25 steel is 430 - 540 MPa, the yield strength is 250 MPa, and the elongation at break is 20%. It is usually used for the manufacture of mechanical components such as bearings, shafts, and machine parts.

 

C25 steel can be supplied in different states, including hot-rolled, cold-rolled, normalized, and annealed. Among them, normalized steel has higher strength and hardness, while annealed steel has better processing performance.

 

One of the advantages of C25 steel is its good corrosion resistance, which can resist general corrosion and oxidation. In addition, the steel price is moderate and easy to process and weld.

 

However, the disadvantages of C25 steel are its tendency to become brittle and suffer from thermal fatigue in high-temperature environments. Additionally, due to its high carbon content, the steel is prone to intergranular corrosion caused by carbide precipitation.

 

Common forms of C25 steel include round bars, square bars, flat bars, and steel plates. Different countries have different grades of this steel, such as EN 10083-2 C25E in Europe, DIN EN 10083-2 C25 in Germany, and ASTM A29/A29M 1025 in the United States.

 

In summary, C25 carbon steel is a commonly used carbon steel material with moderate strength and good corrosion resistance. It is suitable for the manufacture of mechanical components and is available in various process states. However, precautions should be taken for its tendency to become brittle and suffer from thermal fatigue in high-temperature environments.
