S235J2 steel is a type of low carbon structural steel, which is executed by European standard EN 10025-2. The chemical composition range includes carbon (C) ≤ 0.20%, silicon (Si) ≤ 0.55%, manganese (Mn) ≤ 1.60%, sulfur (S) ≤ 0.035%, phosphorus (P) ≤ 0.035%, copper (Cu) ≤ 0.55%, nickel (Ni) ≤ 0.30%, as well as chromium (Cr), molybdenum (Mo), titanium (Ti), aluminum (Al), nitrogen (N), niobium (Nb) and other trace elements.
The tensile strength of S235J2 steel is 360-510 MPa, the yield strength is 235 MPa, and the elongation at fracture is 24%. This type of steel has good cold formability and weldability, suitable for manufacturing various light structures such as buildings, bridges, towers, mechanical equipment, conveying equipment, etc.
In terms of advantages, S235J2 steel is lightweight and has high strength, good ductility and formability, and is easy to process and install. It also has good corrosion resistance and can be used in some special environments. Additionally, this steel has relatively low cost and is an economically practical steel material.
