The tensile strength of S355JO steel ranges from 470 to 630 MPa, and the yield strength is 355 MPa. The fracture elongation varies under different conditions, but is required to be no less than 22% at 20°C.
Its primary applications include the manufacturing of structural components for buildings, bridges, and mechanical equipment, as well as the production of various types of steel pipes and hydraulic cylinders. Additionally, it is suitable for the manufacturing of natural gas pipelines and oil pipelines.
S355JO steel can be produced and processed in the hot-rolled state. It has good machinability and reliable weldability.
A major drawback of S355JO steel is its relatively weak corrosion resistance, requiring anti-corrosion treatment.
Common forms of S355JO steel include steel plates, steel pipes, and steel bars. Different countries have corresponding grades, such as Q345B steel in China and ASTM A572 Gr.50 steel in the United States.
