In Japan, Nippon Steel Corporation has developed the S-TEN series. S-TEN 1 has effective resistance to both sulfuric acid dew point corrosion and hydrochloric acid dew point corrosion, while S-TEN 2 is effectively resistant to sulfuric acid dew point corrosion. It shows the best resistance to sulfuric acid and hydrochloric acid dew-point corrosion found in the flue-gas treatment equipment used with coal-fired boilers, waste incineration plants, etc. S-TEN has strength, workability, and weldability comparable to ordinary steel, and it is more economical than stainless steel. Hot-rolled sheets (plates) of S-TEN conform to JIS G 3106 SM400A (S-TEN 1) and SM490A (S-TEN 2).

JFE Steel Corporation offers a lineup of high tensile strength steel plate. Their products span a tensile strength range from 590 to 980 N/mm². For example, JFE-HITEN 590 SA has a thickness of 6 to 40 mm, with a CEQ (carbon equivalent) of ≤0.45%, a yield strength of ≥450 MPa, and a tensile strength of 590 to 710 MPa. JFE-HITEN 780S has a thickness of 6 to 50 mm, a CEQ of ≤0.53%, a yield strength of ≥685 MPa (for t ≤75) or ≥665 MPa (for t > 75), and a tensile strength of 780 to 930 MPa. These steel plates also guarantee toughness at low temperatures. Additionally, JFE offers high-yield strength plate products like HYD 960 LE and HYD 1100 LE for applications requiring even greater strength.
