1.0335 Steel

 

1.0335 steel is a type of carbon steel, which is governed by the DIN EN 10083-2 standard. The chemical composition of this steel primarily consists of 0.32-0.40% carbon, 0.40-0.60% manganese, 0.40-0.60% silicon, and ≤0.030% sulfur. The content of other alloying elements is below 0.30%.

 

The mechanical properties of this steel include a yield strength of ≥320MPa, tensile strength of 485-660MPa, elongation of ≥20%, and reduction of area of ≥45%.

 

1.0335 steel is commonly used in the manufacturing of bearings, gears, and other mechanical parts that require high strength and wear resistance.

 

This steel is typically supplied in hot rolled or heat-treated condition.

 

Advantages:

- It has high yield strength and tensile strength, making it suitable for applications that require bearing heavy loads.

- Good hardness and wear resistance can be achieved after heat treatment.

- It has good machinability and is easy to process and shape.

 

Disadvantages:

- Compared to other alloy steels with higher grades, it has lower impact resistance and toughness.

- It is prone to brittle fracture at high temperatures.

 

The most common forms of 1.0335 steel include solid round bars, tubes, plates, and square bars.

 

Different countries may use different grade designations for 1.0335 steel. For example, according to ASTM standards, similar steel grades include 1020, 1023, 1025, etc.; according to JIS standards, similar steel grades include S20C, S22C, S25C, etc. These steel grades have similar chemical compositions and mechanical properties as 1.0335 steel.
