All three grades have good toughness properties. The Charpy V - notch impact test is commonly used to measure their toughness. Ductility

Chemical Composition
Alloying Elements
Manganese (Mn): Manganese content is an important factor in enhancing the strength and hardenability of these steels. The Mn content in Ah36, Dh36, and Eh36 is usually in the range of 0.9 - 1.6%. It also acts as a deoxidizer during the steel - making process.
Silicon (Si): Silicon is present in small amounts, typically around 0.1 - 0.5%. It helps in the deoxidation process and also contributes to the strength of the steel.
Nickel (Ni), Chromium (Cr), and Molybdenum (Mo): In Eh36, there may be small amounts of nickel, chromium, and molybdenum. Nickel can improve corrosion resistance and toughness, chromium can enhance hardness and corrosion resistance, and molybdenum can improve the strength and high - temperature performance of the steel.
Impurity Control
The content of harmful impurities such as sulfur (S) and phosphorus (P) is carefully controlled. The sulfur content is usually limited to less than 0.035% and the phosphorus content to less than 0.035% in these steels. High levels of these impurities can lead to reduced ductility, toughness, and weldability.
