The DNV certification process typically includes the following steps:
Submitting the certification application:
Enterprises need to submit a written certification application to DNV, which should contain detailed information such as product name, manufacturer name, address, contact information (phone, fax, email, website, etc., if available would be better), product description (quantity, composition, color, concentration, etc.), application scope and usage limitations (temperature, film thickness, number of coatings, etc.), product specifications/technical data sheets/material safety data sheets, manufacturing process description, quality control description, test results regarding standards, information on labels during production or packaging, and shelf life, etc.
DNV provides a quote: After receiving the application, DNV will assess the scope and complexity of the certification and provide a corresponding quote.
Preliminary assessment:
Document review: The reviewers of DNV will conduct a detailed review of the management system documents and technical files submitted by the enterprise to ensure they comply with DNV's requirements and relevant standards and regulations. This step may be conducted before the on-site audit or concurrently with it.
On-site inspection (optional): Depending on the specific circumstances, DNV may arrange reviewers to conduct on-site inspections at the enterprise's production site, office premises, etc., to understand the actual operation situation, equipment and facilities, production processes, etc. of the enterprise to verify the authenticity of the document content.
Formal audit:
Initial meeting: When the reviewers arrive at the enterprise, they will hold an initial meeting with the relevant personnel of the enterprise to introduce the purpose, scope, process and requirements of the audit.
On-site audit: The reviewers will conduct a comprehensive inspection and assessment of the enterprise's management system, production process, quality control, etc. in accordance with DNV's audit standards and procedures, including reviewing document records, interviewing employees, observing operation processes, etc.
Identifying problems and communication: During the audit process, if non-conformities or problems are identified, the reviewers will communicate with the relevant personnel of the enterprise to confirm the nature and severity of the problems and propose corrective suggestions.
Final meeting: After the audit is completed, the reviewers will hold a final meeting to provide feedback to the enterprise on the audit results, including identified problems, conformities and non-conformities, etc., and propose corrective requirements and deadlines.
Evaluating test reports and experimental results (if applicable): For some certification projects that require product testing or experiments, DNV will evaluate the test reports and experimental results submitted by the enterprise to determine whether the product complies with relevant standards and requirements.

Rectification and verification:
Enterprises need to formulate a rectification plan based on the corrective requirements proposed by the reviewers and complete the rectification within the prescribed period.
After the rectification is completed, enterprises need to submit the rectification report and relevant supporting materials to DNV.
DNV will verify the rectification situation of the enterprise to confirm whether the problems have been effectively resolved.
Issuing the certification certificate: If the enterprise's management system and products meet DNV's requirements and the rectification measures have been effectively verified, DNV will issue a certification certificate to prove that the enterprise's products or management system have passed the DNV certification.
Follow-up supervision and re-evaluation:
Annual supervision audit: After the enterprise obtains the certification, DNV will conduct regular supervision audits of the enterprise, usually once a year, to ensure that the enterprise's management system and products continue to meet the certification requirements.
Renewal re-evaluation: The validity period of the certification certificate is generally three years. Before the certificate expires, the enterprise needs to undergo a renewal re-evaluation to obtain the certification again.
