Material Selection and Production

 

Raw Material Control:

Use high - quality iron ores and scrap metals as the main raw materials. Ensure that the raw materials have low impurity content, such as controlling the levels of sulfur, phosphorus, and other harmful elements. This helps to lay a good foundation for the quality of the final steel product.

According to JIS standards, the main grades of NK marine steel plates are as follows:

 

General strength grades:

Grade A: It is a basic grade of NK marine steel with certain strength and ductility, suitable for general shipbuilding and marine structure applications where the requirements for strength are not extremely high5.

Grade B: Compared with Grade A, Grade B has slightly better mechanical properties, especially in terms of impact resistance at low temperatures. It is more suitable for applications in regions with relatively cold marine environments5.

Grade D: This grade has higher strength and better toughness than Grades A and B. It is often used in the construction of important parts of ships and offshore structures that require higher strength and reliability.

Grade E: Grade E is a high-quality grade with excellent mechanical properties and welding performance. It is suitable for the construction of complex and critical structures in the marine industry.

High-strength grades:

AH32, DH32, EH32: These are high-strength steel grades for shipbuilding. The numbers "32" represent the minimum yield strength in MPa. AH32, DH32, and EH32 have different chemical compositions and manufacturing processes, which endow them with good strength, toughness, and weldability. They are mainly used in the construction of hulls, decks, and other key parts of ships that require high strength.

AH36, DH36, EH36: Similar to the above, AH36, DH36, and EH36 are also high-strength steel grades for shipbuilding, but with higher strength levels than the "32" series. They are suitable for applications where higher strength is required, such as in the construction of large ships, offshore platforms, and other marine engineering structures.

AH40, DH40, EH40: These are even higher-strength grades, providing stronger support and protection for marine structures. They are often used in the construction of special ships, such as large oil tankers, bulk carriers, and high-performance offshore platforms5.
