(1) Corrosion Resistance Mechanism

The alloying elements induce the formation of a dense, adherent rust layer (composed mainly of α-FeOOH) on the surface. This layer is low in permeability to water and oxygen, effectively isolating the steel matrix from the corrosive environment.

In contrast, ordinary carbon steel forms a loose, porous rust layer (Fe₂O₃·nH₂O) that peels off easily, allowing continuous corrosion.

(2) Mechanical Property Balance

Yield Strength: ≥235 MPa (for thickness ≤16 mm), meeting the strength requirements for general structural applications.

Tensile Strength: 360–510 MPa, ensuring adequate load-bearing capacity.

Elongation (A): ≥26% (for thickness ≤16 mm), indicating good plasticity for forming and welding.

(3) Process Compatibility

The low-carbon, low-alloy composition ensures good weldability (low carbon equivalent, CEV ≤0.39%), reducing the risk of heat-affected zone (HAZ) cracking.
