1230 aluminum is a high-purity aluminum alloy, which is standardized by ASTM B209 and B211 in the United States. This alloy is mainly composed of aluminum, with small amounts of silicon, iron, and copper. The chemical composition range is as follows: aluminum (Al) ≥ 99.30%, copper (Cu) ≤ 0.01%, iron (Fe) ≤ 0.03%, silicon (Si) ≤ 0.06%.
1230 aluminum has higher mechanical properties compared to regular aluminum. Its yield strength is 95 MPa, tensile strength is 130 MPa, and elongation is 28%. 1230 aluminum is commonly used in the manufacturing of ladder steps, handrails, storage cabinets, and can also be used in chemical, food processing, and electronic equipment industries.
The common temper of 1230 aluminum includes H14, H16, H18, H22, and H24. The main advantages of this alloy are high strength, excellent weldability, and good corrosion resistance, with relatively low cost. However, its disadvantage is that it is prone to oxidation and needs protection. The most common forms of 1230 aluminum include aluminum coils, aluminum sheets, aluminum foils, etc.
