1100 aluminum is a high purity aluminum alloy, which is standardized by ASTM B209 and B210 in the United States. The chemical composition range is as follows: aluminum (Al) ≥ 99.00%, copper (Cu) ≤ 0.050%, iron (Fe) ≤ 0.500%, manganese (Mn) ≤ 0.050%, silicon (Si) + iron (Fe) ≤ 0.950%, magnesium (Mg) not detected, zinc (Zn) ≤ 0.100%.
1100 aluminum demonstrates good ductility, toughness, weldability, and corrosion resistance. Its yield strength is 34 MPa, tensile strength is 90 MPa, and elongation is >20%. 1100 aluminum is mainly used in the food packaging industry, container manufacturing, and processing fields. Its common temper includes H14, H16, H18, H22, H24, etc.
The main advantages of this alloy are high purity and its direct use in various applications. However, it has a low strength and poor mechanical performance. The most common forms of 1100 aluminum are aluminum coils, aluminum sheets, aluminum foils, and aluminum bars.
