The alloy is primarily composed of aluminum, with small amounts of silicon, iron, and copper. Its chemical composition ranges are: aluminum (Al) ≥ 99.60%, copper (Cu) ≤ 0.01%, iron (Fe) ≤ 0.03%, and silicon (Si) ≤ 0.05%.
The mechanical properties of 1260 aluminum alloy are higher than those of ordinary aluminum alloys. It has a yield strength of 125 MPa, ultimate tensile strength of 185 MPa, and elongation of 15%. 1260 aluminum alloy is widely used in fields such as aviation, maritime, railway, construction, electrical, electronic, packaging, and machinery.
The common states of 1260 aluminum alloy include O, T3, T4, and T6. O is the soft state, while T3, T4, and T6 are the hard states. The advantages of the alloy are its high strength, excellent ductility, good corrosion resistance, and welding performance, as well as good electrical conductivity. The disadvantages are its susceptibility to static electricity and the tendency to accumulate impurities, requiring regular cleaning and maintenance. The most common forms include aluminum coils, aluminum sheets, aluminum foils, aluminum tubes, and so on.

- United States: ASTM standards B209 and B211, grade 1260
- Japan: JIS standard H4000, grade A1260P
- China: GB/T standard 3190, grade 1260
