1. Foundation of Fundamental Corrosion Resistance

Nickel, as the matrix element forming a face-centered cubic solid solution, can form a stable passive film in various corrosive media, showing inherent resistance to reducing acids (e.g., hydrochloric acid, sulfuric acid) and chloride environments.

 

In Reducing Acids: Nickel inhibits the adsorption and diffusion of hydrogen atoms, reducing the risk of hydrogen embrittlement. It also synergizes with molybdenum to enhance resistance to non-oxidizing acids.

In Oxidizing Environments: Nickel works with chromium to promote the formation and repair of the passive film, preventing general corrosion.

2. Key to Stress Corrosion Cracking (SCC) Resistance

The high nickel content (≥56%) endows the alloy with extremely low SCC susceptibility in chloride solutions.
