Composition and Classification
Main Components: The main composition of TC4 titanium alloy steel plate is Ti-6Al-4V, containing 6% α-stabilizing element aluminum (Al) and 4% β-stabilizing element vanadium (V), with the remaining being titanium (Ti). Strict controls are also imposed on impurity elements, including iron (Fe) ≤ 0.30%, carbon (C) ≤ 0.10%, nitrogen (N) ≤ 0.05%, hydrogen (H) ≤ 0.015%, and oxygen (O) ≤ 0.20%.
Alloy Category: It belongs to α-β type two-phase titanium alloy. This dual-phase structure endows it with the advantages of both α-phase and β-phase titanium alloys, featuring excellent comprehensive properties.
Characteristics
High Strength and Lightweight: TC4 titanium alloy boasts high strength, with a tensile strength of 895–1100 MPa, while its density is only about 4.4–4.5 g/cm³, far lower than that of steel. Its specific strength (the ratio of strength to density) reaches 23.5, much higher than that of alloy steel. It effectively reduces weight while ensuring structural strength, making it particularly suitable for weight-sensitive fields such as aerospace and automotive.
Excellent Corrosion Resistance: It exhibits outstanding corrosion resistance in seawater, most acids, alkalis, and salt media, surpassing traditional materials like stainless steel. It can operate stably for a long time in harsh environmental conditions, thus being widely used in chemical engineering, marine engineering, shipbuilding, and other fields.



Good Ductility and Weldability: It has excellent ductility, capable of withstanding large deformations without fracture. Meanwhile, it features good weldability and can be connected by various welding methods such as argon arc welding, spot welding, and electron beam welding. The strength of the welded joint is basically equivalent to that of the base metal, providing great advantages in manufacturing complex structural components.
Low Thermal Conductivity: With a thermal conductivity of about 7.955 W/m·K, it is only 1/5 that of iron and 1/10 that of aluminum. In high-temperature environments, heat transfer is slow, which helps maintain the material's performance stability. However, during processing, attention should be paid to controlling heat accumulation to avoid affecting processing quality.
