PROCESSING & WELDING
1. XM-12 Processing
Welding: Use TIG or MIG with matching filler metal (e.g., ER317L), control heat input to avoid grain coarsening.
Forming: Good cold formability, though work hardening may require intermediate annealing.
2. 15-PH Processing
Heat Treatment: Solution annealing at 1040°C followed by aging (e.g., H900: 480°C for 4 hours) to achieve peak strength.
Welding: Preheating is usually unnecessary, but post-weld aging may be needed to restore strength in the HAZ.
