1.7226 Steel

 

1.7226 steel standard is EN 10083-3. It is a high-strength alloy structural steel that is very similar to 42CrMo4 steel, but with slightly different chemical composition and performance characteristics.

 

The specific chemical composition is as follows:

Carbon (C): 0.22-0.29%

Silicon (Si): 0.40% maximum

Manganese (Mn): 0.50-0.80%

Phosphorus (P): 0.035% maximum

Sulfur (S): 0.020-0.040%

Chromium (Cr): 1.20-1.50%

Molybdenum (Mo): 0.15-0.25%

 

The tensile strength of the steel is 1000-1200MPa, the yield strength is 800-1100MPa, and the elongation at fracture is ≥10%.

 

1.7226 steel is mainly used to manufacture parts with high loads and high strength requirements, such as engine parts, mechanical parts, conveyor pulleys, and hydraulic seal parts.

 

The steel can be annealed, normalized, or normalized and tempered.

 

Advantages:

1. High strength and hardness;

2. Good wear resistance and thermal processing performance.

 

Disadvantages:

1. Requires high-performance cutting processing to coordinate its properties;

2. Poor toughness at low temperatures.

 

The most common forms of the steel include round steel, square steel, flat steel, and steel plate.
