34Cr4 Alloy Steel

 

34Cr₄ steel is a low alloy steel with the standard of EN 10083-3. Its specific chemical composition includes:

- Carbon (C): 0.30-0.37%

- Silicon (Si): maximum 0.40%

- Manganese (Mn): 0.60-0.90%

- Phosphorus (P): maximum 0.035%

- Sulfur (S): maximum 0.035%

- Chromium (Cr): 0.90-1.20%

- Boron (B): 0.001-0.005%

 

The tensile strength of 34Cr4 steel is 1000-1200 MPa, its yield strength is 800 MPa, and its elongation at break is 10-15%.

 

34Cr₄ steel is commonly used to manufacture high-strength components, such as automotive and mechanical parts, including crankshafts, gears, and axles.

 

34Cr₄ steel can be provided in a hot-rolled and forged condition.

 

The advantages of 34Cr₄ steel include high strength, good mechanical properties, good corrosion resistance, and good machinability and weldability.

 

Disadvantages include the possibility of deformation during heat treatment.

 

The most common forms of 34Cr4 steel include round bars and bright steel bars.
