C15R Carbon Steel

 

C15R carbon steel is a low carbon steel material with a specific chemical composition of carbon content ranging from 0.12% to 0.18%, manganese content ranging from 0.3% to 0.6%, silicon content ranging from 0.10% to 0.35%, phosphorus content not exceeding 0.040%, and sulfur content not exceeding 0.040%.

 

The tensile strength of C15R carbon steel is generally between 430-580 megapascals (MPa), the yield strength is around 240 megapascals (MPa), and the elongation at fracture is typically between 20% and 25%.

 

C15R carbon steel is primarily used for manufacturing machinery parts, axles, gears, and other components that require high strength and toughness. Due to its low carbon content, it is suitable for applications that demand high welding performance.

 

Common forms of C15R carbon steel include hot-rolled (heat-treated), cold-rolled (heat-treated), and hot-rolled annealed.

 

The advantages of C15R carbon steel include good machinability, ease of welding, and heat treatability.

 

However, it has relatively low strength and corrosion resistance, making it susceptible to rusting.
