EN 10084 C10R Steel

 

1. C10R carbon steel is a medium carbon steel, also known as EN 1.1207 or AISI 1010. It is mainly composed of carbon, manganese, and silicon, with the following specific chemical composition:

- Carbon (C): 0.08-0.13%

- Manganese (Mn): 0.30-0.60%

- Silicon (Si): 0.10-0.35%

- Phosphorus (P): 0.045% or less

- Sulfur (S): 0.050% or less

 

2. The tensile strength of C10R carbon steel is 420-600 N/mm2, the yield strength is 310-370 N/mm2, and the elongation at break is between 45-55%. These characteristics make it widely used in the manufacture of various mechanical parts, such as bolts, nuts, and bearings.

 

3. The states of C10R carbon steel include hot rolling, forging, cold drawing, quenching, and annealing, etc. The most common state is annealing, because this state is easier to process and has better toughness and plasticity.

 

4. The advantages of C10R carbon steel include high strength, high hardness, good toughness, and easy processing. However, its disadvantages are that it is prone to oxidation and corrosion at high temperatures, and it is prone to produce small rust on the surface.

 

5. In Europe, the corresponding standard and grade is EN 1.1207. In China, the most similar standard and grade is GB/T 699 10 0.08-0.13.
