C30 is a standard carbon steel, also known as AISI 1030. Its chemical composition includes carbon (C) 0.28-0.34%, silicon (Si) 0.15-0.35%, manganese (Mn) 0.60-0.90%, phosphorus (P) maximum 0.040%, sulfur (S) maximum 0.050%.
C30 has a tensile strength of 390-620 MPa, yield strength of 285-530 MPa, and elongation at fracture of 17-28%. It is widely used in the manufacturing of mechanical parts such as bearings, shafts, gears, and some structural components.
C30 is usually delivered in an annealed state, which provides higher machinability and toughness. It can be further hardened through quenching and tempering to increase its strength and hardness.
The advantages of C30 include good machinability, higher toughness, and weldability. It also exhibits a certain fatigue resistance. However, it has poor corrosion resistance and is susceptible to rust.
The most common forms of C30 include round bars, flat plates, and tubes. Additionally, it can be supplied in the form of wire rods and forgings.
The equivalents in various countries are as follows: GB standard in China is 30, JIS standard in Japan is S30C, DIN standard in Germany is C30, and ASTM standard in the United States is A108.
