C45 Carbon Steel

 

C45 steel is a medium carbon steel with a carbon content of 0.42-0.50%, belonging to the European standard C45 steel.

 

The specific chemical composition is as follows:

- Carbon (C) content: 0.42-0.50%

- Silicon (Si) content: 0.17-0.37%

- Manganese (Mn) content: 0.50-0.80%

- Sulfur (S) content: ≤0.035%

- Phosphorus (P) content: ≤0.035%

 

The tensile strength of C45 steel is approximately 570-700 MPa, with a yield strength of about 330 MPa and a fracture elongation of about 14-20%.

This steel can be in the form of hot rolled and forged states, and can also undergo quenching and tempering treatment.

 

C45 steel has a wide range of applications and is commonly used for manufacturing shafts, gears, screws, pins, and submerged arc welding wires. Its advantages include good hardenability, toughness, and machinability. It is easy to quench and temper, and has good wear resistance and corrosion resistance. However, it is prone to thermal cracking and surface oxidation.

 

Common forms of C45 steel include round steel, square steel, flat steel, and plate, which can be customized and processed according to different requirements and applications.

- American Standard: ASTM A29/A29M 1045 steel

- European Standard: EN 10083-2 C45 steel
