AISI 1045 Medium Carbon Steel

 

1045 steel is a medium carbon steel with a carbon content of 0.43-0.50%, belonging to the international standard of 1045 steel.

 

The specific chemical composition is as follows:

- Carbon (C) content: 0.43-0.50%

- Silicon (Si) content: 0.15-0.35%

- Manganese (Mn) content: 0.60-0.90%

- Sulfur (S) content: ≤0.030%

- Phosphorus (P) content: ≤0.035%

 

The tensile strength of 1045 steel is approximately 570-700 MPa, with a yield strength of about 330 MPa and a fracture elongation of about 20-25%.

This steel can be in the form of hot rolled, cold rolled, and forged states.

 

1045 steel has a wide range of applications, commonly used for manufacturing shafts, mechanical parts, and springs. Its advantages include good toughness, plasticity, and weldability, and it is easy to process and heat treat. 1045 steel also has high wear and corrosion resistance, making it suitable for some high-demand working environments.
