The tensile strength of S355JR steel ranges from 470 to 630 MPa, with a yield strength of approximately 355 MPa. The minimum fracture elongation requirement is 22% at 20°C.
It is primarily used for manufacturing structural components such as bridges, buildings, and machinery equipment. Additionally, it can be used for manufacturing various types of steel pipes and hydraulic cylinders.
S355JR steel is typically found in hot-rolled condition. It possesses good workability and weldability, making it an ideal material for manufacturing large-scale components.
In terms of advantages, S355JR steel has good processability and weldability. However, its main drawback is its relatively weak corrosion resistance, which necessitates corrosion protection.
The most common forms of S355JR steel include steel plates, steel pipes, and steel bars. Different countries have their own equivalent grades. For example, in China, S355JR steel can be replaced with Q345B steel, while in the United States, it can be substituted with ASTM A572 Gr.50 steel.
