S235JRC steel has a European standard EN 10025-2, and its chemical composition includes elements such as carbon (C), silicon (Si), manganese (Mn), phosphorus (P), sulfur (S), and chromium (Cr), as follows:
Chemical composition: C: 0.17% ~ 0.20%, Si: 0.15% ~ 0.40%, Mn: 1.40% ~ 1.70%, P: <0.035%, S: <0.035%, Cr: <0.30%
Mechanical properties: Tensile strength: 360-510 MPa, yield strength: 235 MPa, elongation: ≥26%, reduction of area: ≥40%.
Uses: S235JRC steel is commonly used in light structural components, construction plates, and spring manufacturing industries.
Status: S235JRC steel commonly appears in hot-rolled and normalized states.
Advantages: High strength and toughness, good weldability, and relatively low cost.
Disadvantages: Easy hardening and prone to cracking.
Most common forms: Steel plates, steel pipes, and steel bars.
Comparison of national grades: In China, it is known as Q235B, in the US as ASTM A36, and in Japan as SS400.
