The execution standard for S420MC steel is the European standard EN 10149-2. The chemical composition includes elements such as carbon (C), silicon (Si), manganese (Mn), phosphorus (P), sulfur (S), and chromium (Cr), as follows:
Chemical composition: C: ≤0.12%, Si: ≤0.50%, Mn: ≤1.60%, P: ≤0.025%, S: ≤0.015%, Cr: ≤0.15%.
Mechanical properties: Tensile strength: 480-620 MPa, yield strength: 420 MPa, elongation: ≥16%, reduction of area: ≥19%.
Uses: S420MC steel is commonly used in automotive structural components, panels, body frames, seat brackets, etc.
Status: S420MC steel usually appears in a hot-rolled state.
Advantages: It has high strength and plasticity, good welding performance, and is suitable for cold forming.
Disadvantages: Relatively high cost, susceptible to thermal impact.
Most common forms: Steel plates, steel strips, etc.
Comparison of national grades: In China, it is known as Q420MC, in the US as ASTM A1011 SS Grade 80, in Japan as SAPH440, and in Germany as QStE420TM.
