The steel grade 1.0986 complies with the standard EN 10025-2.

 

Specific chemical composition:

- Carbon (C) content: 0.18%

- Silicon (Si) content: 0.50%

- Manganese (Mn) content: 1.50%

- Phosphorus (P) content: 0.025%

- Sulfur (S) content: 0.020%

- Niobium (Nb) content: 0.05%

- Boron (B) content: 0.003%

- Aluminum (Al) content: 0.02%

 

Mechanical properties:

- Tensile strength: 470-630 MPa

- Yield strength: 275 MPa

- Elongation: 17%

- Bending radius: 3t (t is the thickness of the plate)

 

Uses:

Steel grade 1.0986 is mainly used for manufacturing structural components such as welded parts and stamped parts.

 

State:

Usually supplied in hot-rolled state.

 

Advantages:

- Good weldability and processability

- Higher strength and rigidity at normal temperatures

 

Disadvantages:

- Not suitable for environments with high corrosion resistance requirements

- Might have fewer special characteristics compared to some specialized steel grades
