Introduction

20Mn is a low-to-medium carbon steel grade in China's GB/T 699 standard (high-quality carbon structural steel). The "20" indicates a carbon content of ~0.20%, while "Mn" denotes a slightly higher manganese content (0.70–1.00%) compared to standard low-carbon steels (e.g., Q235). This alloy offers better strength and hardenability than plain carbon steels while maintaining good plasticity and weldability. It is commonly used in mechanical parts and structural components requiring moderate strength and formability.
