Welding and Fabrication

Weldability:

Low carbon (CE ≤0.45%) ensures good weldability, but preheating may be required for thick sections or high-strength variants.

Use low-hydrogen welding processes (e.g., MMA, GMAW) and matching filler metals (e.g., ER55-G for GMAW).

Fabrication:

Cold forming is possible for thin sections, but hot forming may be needed for thicker plates to avoid cracking.

Post-weld heat treatment (PWHT) may be required for critical applications to relieve stress.
