Key Differences:

Q235: Low carbon, no intentional alloying (essentially mild steel).

Trends:

Strength increases significantly from Q235 to Q460 (Q460's yield strength is ~2× Q235).

Higher grades (Q420/Q460) offer better low-temperature toughness (e.g., Q460E at -40℃).

 

 

Corrosion Resistance and Surface Treatment

Q235: Prone to rust; requires protective coatings (e.g., paint, galvanizing) for outdoor use.

Q420/Q460: Slightly better corrosion resistance due to alloying, but still need treatment:

Shot blasting to Sa2.5 standard.

Epoxy or polyurethane coatings for long-term protection.
