Proportion of chromium (Cr) addition

 

In ordinary shipbuilding steel plates, the chromium content is relatively low, usually around 0.5% - 2%. This relatively low chromium content can improve the antioxidant and corrosion - resistant properties of the steel plates to a certain extent without significantly increasing the cost.

For some shipbuilding steel plates with special requirements, such as those used in harsh corrosive environments (such as high - salinity seawater, strong oxidizing media, etc.), the chromium content may be increased to 12% - 30%. When the chromium content reaches about 12%, the steel plate begins to have corrosion - resistant characteristics similar to stainless steel; when the content is further increased to about 30%, the steel plate can exhibit excellent corrosion resistance in extreme corrosive environments.

 

Proportion of nickel (Ni) addition

 

In common shipbuilding steel plates, the nickel content is generally within the range of 0.5% - 5%. This content range allows nickel to effectively stabilize the organizational structure of the steel plate and improve its toughness and corrosion - resistant properties.

In some shipbuilding steel plates with extremely high requirements for corrosion resistance and low - temperature performance, the nickel content may be increased to 9% - 36%. For example, in shipbuilding steel plates used in low - temperature environments (such as polar ships), a relatively high nickel content (about 9% - 15%) can inhibit martensitic transformation and ensure the toughness and corrosion resistance of the steel plate at low temperatures; for some special corrosion - resistant alloy steel plates, the nickel content can be as high as 36%, and this type of steel plate can maintain good performance in extremely harsh corrosive environments.
