Silicon (Si): Up to 0.50%.

Manganese (Mn): At least 2.5 times the carbon content.

Phosphorus (P): Maximum 0.035%.

Sulfur (S): Maximum 0.035%.

Nitrogen (N): Maximum 0.02%.

Mechanical properties:

Yield strength: The minimum yield strength is 235 MPa.

Tensile strength: Ranges from 400 MPa to 520 MPa.

Elongation: Minimum elongation after fracture is 18% for plates with thickness up to 50mm; for thicker plates, the elongation requirements are slightly different (e.g., 27/41 for certain thickness ranges).

Impact toughness: Has good impact toughness, especially at low temperatures. The impact energy values for different thickness ranges and test directions (transverse and longitudinal) are specified. For example, for thickness up to 50mm, the transverse impact energy is typically a certain value, and the longitudinal impact energy may be different.
