Understand the Relationship between Roll Gap and Curvature

The roll gap is the space between the rollers in a roll - bending machine. A smaller roll gap will result in a greater degree of bending of the LR/DH36 shipbuilding steel plate. The curvature of the plate is inversely proportional to the roll gap. As the roll gap decreases, the plate is forced to conform more closely to the shape of the rollers, increasing its curvature.

 

Trial - and - Error Adjustment during the Process

After the initial roll - gap setting, a trial - and - error approach is often necessary. Roll the steel plate through the rollers at a slow speed for the first pass. Observe the actual curvature of the plate after the first pass. If the curvature is less than the desired value, reduce the roll gap slightly for the next pass. Conversely, if the curvature is greater than expected, increase the roll gap. The adjustment amount can be based on experience or a more precise calculation considering the elastic - plastic behavior of the steel. Use of Measuring Tools and Feedback Systems
