Shipbuilding steel grades certified by China Classification Society:
General-strength structural steel grades: Divided into four quality grades A, B, D, and E. The yield strength of these four grades of steel is not less than 235 N/mm², and the tensile strength is between 400 and 520 N/mm². The main difference lies in the different impact energies at different temperatures.
High-strength structural steel grades: The strength grades are divided according to their minimum yield strength. Each strength grade is further divided into four grades A, D, E, and F according to their different impact toughness. For example, the yield strength of A32, D32, E32, and F32 is not less than 315 N/mm², and the tensile strength is between 440 and 570 N/mm². A, D, E, and F respectively represent the impact toughness that can be achieved at 0°, -20°, -40°, and -60° respectively; the yield strength of A36, D36, E36, and F36 is not less than 355 N/mm², and the tensile strength is between 490 and 620 N/mm²; the yield strength of A40, D40, E40, and F40 is not less than 390 N/mm², and the tensile strength is between 510 and 660 N/mm².
