Chemical Composition

Carbon (C) : The carbon content in AH32/36 steel plates is carefully controlled. For AH32, the carbon content is usually around 0.18% or less. In AH36, it's also within a similar range. Manganese (Mn) : Manganese content in these steels is typically in the range of 0.70% - 1.60%. Manganese plays a vital role in increasing the strength and toughness of the steel. It also helps to reduce the harmful effects of sulfur by forming manganese sulfides, which are less harmful than iron sulfides that can cause brittleness.

Silicon (Si) : The silicon content usually lies between 0.10% - 0.50%. Silicon acts as a deoxidizer during the steel - making process. It also contributes to the strength of the steel and helps in improving its resistance to high - temperature oxidation.

Phosphorus (P) and Sulfur (S) : These are considered impurities, and their content is kept as low as possible. The phosphorus content is generally limited to less than 0.040%, and the sulfur content is usually less than 0.040%.
