Relatively Stable Strengthening Effect in a Wide Temperature Range
Precipitation Strengthening: The stability of the precipitated phase may be affected at high temperatures. When the temperature rises, the precipitated phase may dissolve, coarsen, or react with the matrix, resulting in a decrease in the strengthening effect. For example, in some steels containing carbide precipitated phases, in a high - temperature environment, the carbides may gradually dissolve into the matrix, reducing the resistance to dislocation movement and the strength of the steel.
Solid - Solution Strengthening: The lattice distortion caused by the alloy elements in the solid solution is relatively stable within a certain temperature range. Although the thermal motion of atoms intensifies as the temperature rises and the resistance to dislocation movement will decrease to some extent, compared with precipitation strengthening, solid - solution strengthening can still maintain a certain strengthening effect at higher temperatures.
