The production process of AH32 hot rolled shipbuilding marine steel plate has specific requirements in the following aspects:
Raw material selection:
Base metal: The choice of raw steel is crucial. The carbon content should be strictly controlled, generally not exceeding 0.20% to ensure good weldability and toughness.
Alloy elements: Appropriate amounts of alloy elements such as manganese, niobium, titanium, and vanadium are added. Manganese is the main alloying element, which can improve the strength and toughness of the steel. Trace amounts of niobium, titanium, or vanadium can form fine carbides or carbonitrides in the steel, helping to obtain fine ferrite grains and enhance the strength and toughness of the steel. In addition, a small amount of copper (≤0.4%) and phosphorus (about 0.1%) can be added to improve the corrosion resistance. And a small amount of rare earth elements can be added to desulfurize, degasify, purify the steel, and improve the toughness and process performance.
Smelting process:
Smelting method: Usually, electric furnace smelting is used to ensure the purity of the steel. The smelting process needs to strictly control the content of impurities such as sulfur, phosphorus, nitrogen, oxygen, and hydrogen in the steel to meet the quality requirements3.
Composition adjustment: During the smelting process, the composition of the steel is adjusted in real-time according to the designed chemical composition requirements to ensure that the content of each element is within the specified range.

Casting process:

Rolling process:
Rolling temperature: The heating temperature of the slab before rolling is an important parameter. It needs to be heated to a suitable temperature range to ensure that the steel has good plasticity and formability during rolling. The initial rolling temperature is generally around 1100-1200°C, and the finishing rolling temperature is controlled at about 850-950°C.
Rolling reduction: Reasonable rolling reduction is set in each pass of rolling to ensure that the internal structure of the steel is uniform and the mechanical properties are stable. The total rolling reduction ratio is usually controlled within a certain range to obtain the desired plate thickness and performance.
