Material Basis
When welding thin plates of different materials, the wire - feeding speed should be adjusted according to the filling requirements of the weld metal. For example, when welding nickel - base alloy thin plates, due to their complex alloy components, in order to ensure that the chemical composition of the weld is similar to that of the base metal, the wire - feeding speed needs to be precisely controlled. Generally speaking, the wire - feeding speed during the welding of nickel - base alloy thin plates is relatively slow to ensure that the alloy elements can be fully mixed and evenly distributed in the weld. For ordinary carbon - steel thin plates, the wire - feeding speed can be relatively fast. Take the welding of 3 - mm - thick nickel - base alloy and carbon - steel thin plates as an example. The wire - feeding speed of the nickel - base alloy thin plate may be around 2 - 3m/min, and that of the carbon - steel thin plate can be around 4 - 6m/min.

Relation with Thickness
As the thickness of the thin plate increases, the wire - feeding speed will also increase accordingly. This is because a thicker thin plate requires more weld metal for filling to ensure the strength and compactness of the weld. For example, when the thickness of the thin plate increases from 3mm to 6mm, the wire - feeding speed may increase from 3 - 5m/min to 6 - 9m/min. At the same time, the wire - feeding speed also needs to be coordinated with the welding current and welding speed to ensure that the weld metal can be evenly filled at the appropriate time and position.
