Rolling Deformation Amount

 

Total Deformation Amount: This refers to the cumulative degree of deformation of the steel throughout the rolling process. Sufficient total deformation amount is one of the key factors for grain refinement. By increasing the total deformation amount, more deformation of austenite grains can occur, generating more dislocations. These dislocations will become nucleation points for new grains during the subsequent cooling process, thus refining the grains. For example, during the rolling of pipeline steel, the total deformation amount is generally required to reach a relatively large value to ensure the strength and crack - resistance of the pipes.

 

 

Rolling Speed

 

Rolling speed directly affects the deformation rate during the rolling process: A higher rolling speed means a higher deformation rate, which will have an impact on the microstructure evolution of the steel. To a certain extent, appropriately increasing the rolling speed can promote the dynamic recrystallization of austenite and refine the grains. However, if the rolling speed is too fast, it may cause the surface temperature of the steel to be too high, resulting in surface defects, and it will also affect the operator's control of the rolling process. Cooling Rate and Final Cooling Temperature

 

Final Cooling Temperature: This is the temperature at the end of the steel cooling process. The final cooling temperature determines the final microstructure and performance of the steel.
