I. Appearance requirements

 

Flatness: The surface of the steel plate should be relatively flat and there should be no obvious unevenness. This is crucial for subsequent processing (such as welding, cutting, etc.) and installation in the ship structure. If the surface is not flat, it may affect the welding quality, resulting in unsteady welding or even problems such as cracks. At the same time, an uneven surface will also affect the aesthetics and overall performance of the ship structure.

No cracks: There should be no cracks on the surface. Cracks are a serious defect that will greatly reduce the strength and toughness of the steel plate. During the use of the ship, it may lead to structural damage and endanger the safety of the ship. Even tiny cracks may gradually expand under stress and eventually cause serious accidents.

No folding: There should be no folding phenomenon on the surface of the steel plate. Folding will increase the local thickness of the steel plate and affect the uniformity and stability of the structure. In shipbuilding, the folded part may become a stress concentration point, reducing the bearing capacity of the steel plate and increasing the risk of structural damage of the ship.

 

II. Surface cleanliness requirements

III. Dimensional accuracy requirements

IV. Other requirements
