Processing and Fabrication

1. Welding

Weldability: Generally good, but higher carbon  (CEV) in thick sections may require preheating.

Preheating: 60–100°C for thickness >30mm or high-restraint joints.

Weld Consumables: Match strength with E50XX electrodes (e.g., E5015 for low-hydrogen applications) or ER50-G gas-shielded wires.

Heat Input: Control ≤20 kJ/cm to avoid HAZ softening or coarsening.

2. Cutting and Forming

Cutting: Plasma, laser, or oxy-fuel cutting; post-cut cleaning to remove oxidation.

Forming: Cold forming for simple bends; hot forming (850–1050°C) for complex shapes to prevent cracking.

3. Heat Treatment
