Products Description

Alloy Chrome Molybdenum Steel Plates, also known as Cr-Mo alloy steel plates, are a category of high-performance steel plates alloyed primarily with chromium (Cr) and molybdenum (Mo), along with other elements such as carbon (C) and sometimes vanadium (V), nickel (Ni), or tungsten (W) depending on specific grades. These alloys are valued for their exceptional combination of mechanical strength, high-temperature stability, corrosion resistance, and creep resistance, making them indispensable in demanding industrial applications.

Mechanical Strength

These plates exhibit high tensile strength, yield strength, and toughness, even after prolonged exposure to high temperatures. Heat treatment (e.g., normalizing and tempering) further optimizes their microstructure (e.g., ferrite-pearlite or bainite) for balanced strength and ductility.

Corrosion Resistance

The chromium content enhances resistance to corrosion in environments containing sulfur, acids, or industrial gases, making them suitable for chemical processing, oil and gas refineries, and power plants with aggressive media.

Weldability and Fabrication

While generally weldable, Cr-Mo steels require controlled procedures (e.g., preheating and post-weld heat treatment) to prevent cold cracking and maintain joint integrity, especially for higher alloy grades.

Common Grades

Cr-Mo steel plates are standardized under specifications such as ASTM, ASME, DIN, and JIS. Typical grades include:

ASTM A387 Grades: A387 Gr. 5, 9, 11, 12, 22, 91 (widely used in pressure vessels and boilers).

ASME SA387: Corresponding to ASTM grades, designed for high-pressure, high-temperature (HPHT) service.

EN 10028: Grades like 13CrMo4-5, 10CrMo9-10 (European standards for industrial applications).
