Cold Working Properties and Requirements

Cold Stamping and Bending: GH2132 has good cold working plasticity. Cold stamping, bending, and other processes can be performed after solution treatment (the solution-annealed state has the best plasticity). If further processing is needed after deformation, intermediate annealing (temperature: 900~950℃, air cooling) is required to eliminate work hardening.

Machining: The alloy has moderate machinability. Due to the presence of strengthening elements such as titanium and aluminum, the material has high hardness and toughness. High-speed steel or cemented carbide tools should be used, and sufficient cooling is required during machining to avoid accelerated tool wear caused by high temperatures.

 

 

Surface Treatment Requirements

The surface of hot-rolled or forged plates may have oxide scales, which need to be pickled (commonly using a mixed solution of nitric acid and hydrofluoric acid) to remove the oxide layer and obtain a smooth surface, preparing for subsequent processing (such as cold rolling and welding).

If used in a high-temperature oxidizing environment, the oxidation resistance can be further improved through surface coatings (e.g., enamel layers). However, it is necessary to ensure good bonding between the coating and the substrate to prevent peeling at high temperatures.
