Smelting Process

Smelting is a core link that determines the compositional uniformity and purity of the steel:

 

Selection of Smelting Equipment: Prefer electric arc furnaces or vacuum induction furnaces for smelting. The vacuum environment can reduce the absorption of gases (such as nitrogen, hydrogen, and oxygen) and reduce defects such as pores and inclusions in the steel.

Deoxidation Treatment: Add deoxidizers such as silicon and manganese, or use aluminum for deoxidation to ensure that the oxygen content in the molten steel is ≤0.003%, avoiding the residual of oxide inclusions (such as SiO₂ and MnO) which would affect the toughness of the steel.

Composition Fine - tuning: Real - time monitor the composition of the molten steel in the later stage of smelting, and accurately adjust it by adding alloying elements to ensure that elements such as carbon, chromium, and nickel are within the target range. In particular, the carbon content needs to be strictly controlled (for example, by using on - line carbon content analysis technology).

Temperature Control: The smelting temperature should be stabilized at 1500 - 1600℃ to ensure the full dissolution of alloying elements and avoid local compositional segregation (for example, uneven distribution of chromium and nickel will reduce corrosion resistance).
