Since it does not inherently possess significant corrosion resistance and may face issues such as environmental erosion and mechanical damage during use, proper maintenance is crucial for extending its service life and ensuring its performance. The main maintenance measures for S355JR steel are as follows:

I. Anti-Corrosion Protection

S355JR belongs to the category of carbon steel and is prone to rusting due to erosion by moisture, oxygen, salt, and industrial pollutants. Therefore, anti-corrosion is the core of maintenance:

Surface Coating Maintenance

Regularly inspect whether the paint, coating, or galvanized layer on the steel surface is intact. If peeling, cracking, or wear occurs, timely repair is necessary (first remove rust, then repaint or spray anti-corrosion coating).

For components exposed to outdoor or humid environments, it is recommended to use weather-resistant coatings (such as epoxy paint, polyurethane paint), and repaint every 1-3 years according to the degree of environmental corrosion.

For stored S355JR steel, it should be placed in a dry and well-ventilated room, with the bottom isolated from the ground using 垫高 materials (such as wooden pads) to prevent erosion by ground moisture.

Regular Cleaning and Rust Removal
