SCM430 Steel Standard:

The standards for SCM430 steel are JIS G4053 and ASTM A29/A29M.

 

Chemical Composition:

The chemical composition of SCM430 steel mainly includes carbon (C), silicon (Si), manganese (Mn), phosphorus (P), sulfur (S), chromium (Cr), and molybdenum (Mo). The carbon (C) content is 0.28-0.33%, silicon (Si) is 0.15-0.35%, manganese (Mn) is 0.6-0.9%, phosphorus (P) is not more than 0.03%, sulfur (S) is not more than 0.035%, chromium (Cr) is 0.8-1.1%, and molybdenum (Mo) is 0.15-0.25%.

 

Tensile Strength, Yield Strength, and Elongation:

The tensile strength of SCM430 steel is 830-1030 MPa, yield strength is 685 MPa, and elongation is 12%.

 

Applications:

SCM430 steel is usually used to manufacture high-strength and high-toughness mechanical parts such as crankshafts, bearings, and pins.

 

Status:

SCM430 steel can be heat treated by normalizing, quenching, and tempering.

 

Advantages:

SCM430 steel has high hardness, strength, and toughness, strong wear resistance and durability, and good processing and welding performance.

 

Disadvantages:

SCM430 steel has problems of brittleness and tendency to have toughness defects.

 

Most Common Forms:

The most common forms of SCM430 steel are bars, plates, pipes, and wires.

 

Comparison of National Grades:

Internationally, SCM430 steel corresponds to AISI 4130, DIN 1.7220, and 25CrMo4 steel.
