Products Description
T10 steel is a kind of high carbon steel and has the following advantages and disadvantages:
Advantages:
High hardness and wear resistance: T10 steel has a high carbon content, usually between 0.95% - 1.04%. This endows it with high hardness. After proper heat treatment, the hardness can reach above 60 HRC. It can withstand significant friction and wear, making it suitable for manufacturing tools and parts that require high wear resistance, such as knives, molds, and punches.
Good cutting performance: T10 steel has relatively good cutting processing performance. During the processing, it can maintain good edge sharpness, enabling the processed tools and parts to have high precision and surface quality.
High strength: T10 steel has high strength and can bear large loads and stresses without easily deforming or fracturing. It is suitable for manufacturing tools and structural components that have high strength requirements.
Relatively low price: Compared to some alloy steels and special steels, the raw material cost of T10 steel is relatively low, and the production process is relatively simple. Therefore, its price is more economical, making it a steel with high cost performance.
Good workability: T10 steel has good workability and can be formed and manufactured through various processing methods such as forging, rolling, and cutting, meeting the processing needs of tools and parts of different shapes and sizes.

Disadvantages:
Poor toughness: The high carbon content of high carbon steel leads to relatively poor toughness. When subjected to large impacts or sudden loads, it is prone to brittle fracture. Therefore, when using T10 steel to manufacture tools and parts, attention should be paid to avoiding excessive impacts and overloads.
Low hardenability: The hardenability of T10 steel is low. That is, during quenching, it is difficult to obtain uniform hardness and structure throughout the entire part. This may affect the performance and service life of the part. In some occasions with high hardenability requirements, other steels with better hardenability may need to be used.
Easily rusts: The iron element in T10 steel is prone to react with oxygen and moisture in the air to produce rust. Therefore, appropriate anti-rust treatments such as painting and galvanizing are needed to prolong its service life.
Poor hot hardness: When the working temperature rises, the hardness and strength of T10 steel will rapidly decline. Its hot hardness is poor and is not suitable for tools and parts that work for a long time in high-temperature environments.
Poor welding performance: Due to the high carbon content, the welding performance of T10 steel is poor. Cracks and brittle structures are easily generated during the welding process. Therefore, generally, welding operations on T10 steel are not recommended. If welding is necessary, special welding processes and preheating measures need to be taken.
