C15E carbon steel is a type of medium carbon steel that is primarily used for mechanical parts and transmission components. Its chemical composition includes 0.12%-0.18% carbon, 0.30%-0.60% manganese, 0.40% silicon, a maximum of 0.035% phosphorus, and a maximum of 0.035% sulfur.

 

The tensile strength of C15E carbon steel ranges from 430-580 megapascals (MPa), the yield strength is approximately 240 MPa, and the fracture elongation rate is between 20%-25%, indicating that it has good plasticity and toughness.

 

C15E carbon steel is mainly used to manufacture components that require high strength and toughness, such as bearings, gears, and bolts. Additionally, it can also be used to produce piping, casings, and high-pressure vessels for critical components.

 

The heat treatment states of C15E carbon steel include hot-rolled state, hot-rolled annealed state, and quenched and tempered state.

 

The advantages of C15E carbon steel include good workability and weldability, and it can withstand multiple quenching and tempering to improve its mechanical properties. However, due to its low carbon content, its strength and corrosion resistance are relatively low. It should be avoided in damp conditions, and crack problems may also occur during the heat treatment process.

 

The most common forms of C15E carbon steel include round steel, flat steel, and square steel.

 

In different countries and regions, C15E carbon steel has corresponding reference grades. For example, in Europe, it is based on EN 10084, while in the United States, it is named 1015 steel according to AISI-SAE standards.
