The yield strength of AH36 shipbuilding steel plate is not less than 355MPa. This means that under normal use conditions, when the stress borne by the steel plate reaches 355MPa, it begins to have relatively obvious plastic deformation.

 

Influencing factors of yield strength
Influence of chemical composition
The contents of elements such as carbon (C), silicon (Si), manganese (Mn), phosphorus (P), sulfur (S) and niobium (Nb) in the steel plate have a significant impact on the yield strength. For example, the content of manganese element is between 1.20% - 1.45%. It can improve the strength of the steel plate through the solid solution strengthening mechanism, thus helping to improve the yield strength. The content of niobium element is between 0.015% - 0.025%. Niobium can form fine carbides or carbonitrides, and these precipitates can hinder the movement of dislocations and then improve the yield strength.

 

Influence of production process
Steelmaking process: Advanced steelmaking methods such as electric furnace steelmaking can effectively control the impurity content in the steel and ensure the purity of the steel. The pure steel quality helps to improve the yield strength of the steel plate.
Rolling process: During the hot rolling process, by controlling parameters such as rolling temperature, rolling speed and reduction amount, the grain structure of the steel plate can be refined.
