Comprehensive Judgment: A single method for judging the end point of steelmaking may have errors. Combining multiple methods such as the flame characteristic judgment method, slag state judgment method, composition analysis judgment method, and temperature judgment method can improve the accuracy of judgment. For example, during the steelmaking process, not only observe the change of the flame color from orange-yellow to bright and dazzling white, but also pay attention to the slag color changing to light yellow-white or gray-white and the good fluidity of the slag. Meanwhile, confirm through online detection equipment that the carbon content in the molten steel is close to the target range, and the temperature measured by the pyrometer also meets the requirements for the end point. This multi-dimensional comprehensive judgment can effectively reduce the quality risks caused by errors in judgment using a single method.

 

Mutual Verification: Different judgment methods can verify each other. For instance, when the flame characteristics and slag state both indicate that the end point is approaching, but there is a slight deviation in the composition analysis results, the composition analysis can be reconfirmed. There may be problems in the sampling process or errors in the analytical instruments. By taking samples for analysis again or using other alternative analytical methods to verify the results, the accuracy of the end point judgment can be ensured, thus reducing the quality risks.

Improving the Precision and Reliability of Detection Equipment

 

Equipment Calibration and Maintenance: Regularly calibrate and maintain the detection equipment used for end point judgment (such as pyrometers, composition analyzers, online detection equipment, etc.). For example, for a pyrometer, conduct temperature calibration regularly according to the requirements of the equipment manufacturer to ensure the accuracy of the measured temperature data. For a composition analyzer, regularly check and replace the consumable parts, clean the optical elements or sensors to guarantee the detection precision of the equipment. Through these measures, the inaccuracy of end point judgment caused by equipment errors can be reduced, and the quality risks can be lowered.

 

Adopting High-Precision Equipment: Upgrade and adopt high-precision detection equipment when economic conditions permit. For example, use a spectral analyzer with higher resolution and accuracy to analyze the composition of molten steel and slag.
