EH36
Strength: The yield strength standard is also 355 MPa, and the tensile strength range complies with the regulations of the classification society. Its strength can provide reliable support for the ship structure, especially for large ships or ships carrying special cargoes (such as heavy machinery, ores, etc.). EH36 steel plates can effectively resist hull deformation.
Toughness: EH36 has excellent low-temperature toughness, and the impact test temperature can reach -40°C. For ships sailing on polar routes or in cold deep-sea environments, EH36 steel plates used in key parts of the hull can ensure the safety of the ship.
Chemical Composition: In the design of alloy composition, more attention is paid to improving the low-temperature toughness of the steel. Besides controlling the contents of harmful elements, some micro-alloying elements such as niobium (Nb), vanadium (V), titanium (Ti), etc. may also be added. These micro-alloying elements can refine the grain size, thereby improving the toughness and strength of the steel. For example, niobium can prevent the growth of austenite grain during the hot working process of steel and improve the toughness of the steel.

 

 Production Process

 

Steelmaking
First, converter or electric furnace steelmaking is adopted. During the steelmaking process, the quality of raw materials should be strictly controlled to ensure the purity of molten iron, scrap steel and other raw materials. For example, the introduction of impurity elements should be minimized because these impurity elements will affect the performance of the steel. During the melting process, appropriate alloying elements are added to adjust the chemical composition of the steel to meet the requirements of different grades such as AH36, DH36, EH36.

 

 

 

Heat Treatment
According to needs, some shipbuilding steel plates may undergo heat treatment. A common heat treatment method is normalizing treatment. Normalizing can refine the grain size, eliminate the residual stress inside the steel, and further improve the toughness and strength of the steel. For steel plates with higher toughness requirements such as DH36 and EH36, the control of the heat treatment process is particularly important.

Chemical Composition Inspection
Spectral analyzers and other equipment are used to precisely analyze the chemical composition of the steel. Ensure that the contents of various elements in the steel meet the standard requirements of ABS and Lr classification societies for AH36, DH36, EH36. Any deviation in element contents may affect the performance of the steel, so strict chemical composition inspection is the first step to ensure the quality of the steel.

 

Mechanical Property Inspection
Tensile tests are carried out to determine the yield strength, tensile strength and elongation of the steel. For example, for AH36, DH36, EH36 steel plates, the yield strength must meet the specified minimum standard. At the same time, impact tests are also carried out to inspect the toughness of the steel. The impact test temperature is strictly controlled according to different steel grades (such as -20°C for DH36, -40°C for EH36). Only steel plates with qualified impact toughness can be used in shipbuilding.

 

Appearance and Dimension Inspection
The surface of the steel plate is inspected to check whether there are cracks, slag inclusions, delamination and other defects. These surface defects may become stress concentration points and cause damage to the steel plate during the use of the ship. At the same time, the dimensions of the steel plate are precisely measured to ensure that its thickness, length and width meet the design requirements, because the precise assembly of the ship structure requires accurately sized steel plates.
